Sonos Architectural

Put the sound where the picture is.

In-Wall is the architectural choice when sound should come from the same direction as the picture or performance. Plan the pair around a TV, across a front wall or around a primary listening position, then use Sonos Amp for TV audio, streaming, room tuning and whole-home grouping.

Focused architectural sound

The soundstage belongs in front of you.

For television, focused music listening and architectural cinema, speaker position matters. In-Wall keeps the loudspeaker visually restrained while placing dialogue, vocals and instruments on the same plane as the screen and listening area.

Where In-Wall earns its place

Choose In-Wall when direction matters.

Ceiling speakers are ideal for even room coverage. In-Wall serves a different job: a deliberate front-facing soundstage. The choice should follow how the room is listened to, not simply which speaker is easier to hide.

TV wallPlace a left-right pair around the display so dialogue and effects are anchored to the picture rather than coming from above.
Focused stereo roomUse intentional spacing and listening height to create a stable stereo image for music, with no freestanding loudspeakers in the room.
Architectural home theatreUse In-Wall as part of a designed cinema layout when the room needs discrete front, side or surround channels integrated into the architecture.
Sonos Amp

Built around Sonos Amp

Turn the wall into a Sonos listening zone.

Sonos Amp turns the passive In-Wall pair into a complete Sonos zone. Connect the television over HDMI ARC, stream music directly from Sonos, group the room with the rest of the home, and tune supported Sonos Architectural speakers to the room.

HDMI ARCBring TV sound into the same pair used for music, with volume control through the television workflow.
One Amp = one zoneThe connected pair behaves as one Sonos room and can group with other Sonos zones across the home.
Optimise + TrueplaySupported Sonos Architectural tuning adjusts the speaker response to the installed room.

Product details

Plan the listening position before the wall is cut.

The permanent decision is not the speaker — it is the cut-out and position. Confirm the screen location, listening axis, speaker spacing, wall construction, cable path and Amp location before installation begins.

Frequently asked

In-Wall, clarified.

The practical questions that determine whether the room needs a front-facing architectural soundstage or distributed ceiling audio.

Do these speakers need Sonos Amp?
They are passive and require amplification. Sonos Amp is the intended pairing when you want HDMI ARC TV audio, Sonos streaming, multi-room grouping, architectural-speaker optimisation and Trueplay support in one system.
Why choose In-Wall instead of In-Ceiling?
Choose In-Wall when sound direction and stereo image matter — especially around a television or primary listening position. Choose In-Ceiling when the objective is even, distributed coverage across a room. They solve different acoustic problems.
Can I use them as a stereo pair for music?
Yes. Their wall placement can create a deliberate left-right image for focused listening. Speaker spacing and listening position matter, so placement should be planned rather than treated like background audio.
Can they be used for home theatre?
Yes, but the layout should be designed as a system. In-Wall can support front, side or surround applications depending on the electronics and room architecture. Speaker role, placement and amplification should be defined before installation.
Does Trueplay work with them?
Yes, with Sonos Amp and a supported iOS device. Trueplay measures the room and adjusts the speaker response for the installed environment.
Can the grille be painted?
Yes. The magnetic grille is designed to be paintable so it can blend with the wall finish. Paint must not clog the perforations.
What wall depth do I need?
The speaker itself is 89 mm deep. The installation also needs appropriate clearance for the enclosure, cable and mounting system, so the wall construction must be checked before cutting.
When should I use Soundhous design and installation?
Use design support when the project involves a TV wall, new construction, multiple rooms, joinery, concealed cabling, uncertain speaker spacing or home-theatre integration. A single defined room can be straightforward; the risk rises quickly once architecture and multiple trades are involved.

Sonos Architectural · Soundhous

Design the front of the room around sound.

If the TV position, speaker spacing, cable route and amplification are already resolved, add the pair directly. If any of those decisions are still open — especially on a new build, renovation or cinema room — design the system before the wall is closed.
